Lily Stone is an average young female with a need for something. That’s when she comes across an agency called Loan Some. There, she is paid to participate in various events and just be there for show. Maybe this is the change she secretly needs in her life. Or maybe not. At her time in the agency, she is faced with romance, drama, and fear. She wants some change in her life, but maybe this will be too much for her to handle. Never know unless you try, right? Previously… Lily was saved from Nicholas by Damen at the carnival. Nicholas had trapped Lily against her will and wasn’t willing to let go, when Damen stepped in and made Nicholas leave. After that, Lily passed out and Damen took her home. When Lily awoke, she found Damen in her kitchen cooking. They both sat down and ate, and that is when Damen told Lily why he was at the carnival. He had overheard a conversation between Tod and Nicholas, that “it was going down tonight,” and he didn’t trust them at all. Dinner was over and Damen lay down on Lily’s couch and fell asleep. As she watched him sleep, Lily was thinking she might be in love with Damen, when her phone buzzed and she answered. It was a girl telling her that she wasn’t always going to be lucky. Scared, she decided to go to bed and deal with it in the morning. Readers voted that Lily should ask Damen for help, but not tell him about the phone call.

Episode 18

The next morning, Lily had just taken a shower and got dressed when the doorbell rang. She tried to move quickly to get to the door, but by the time she got there, Damen was shutting it, with a little white box in his hand.

“Good morning. Don’t you look lovely just coming out of the shower? Your hair is still wet.” Damen smiled with a teasing tone in his voice.

Lily blushed. “Thanks, and good morning to you, too. So what is that you have?”

Damen gave the box to Lily and said that it was just delivered to her. She put it on the side table and turned her attention to Damen.

“Can we talk for a moment?”

Damen lifted his brow and nodded. They walked to the living room and sat down. Lily took a deep breath.

“I think I need your help.”

Damen’s face read pure confusion.

“Just hear me out first. Then you can make your decision. I don’t feel safe. I mean, it’s just hard to explain, but ever since that first night we met Nicholas at the wedding, I have had a bad feeling. I can’t shake it either. And then what happened at the carnival. Every time I go near him, my body tries to flee. Also, what you told me last night, everything together, makes me feel unsafe. So I was wondering. Could you help me?”

Damen took a moment to think about everything Lily had said, and then faced her.

“Yes. Anything that you need, I will help you. I want to protect you, Lily.”

He placed his hands on Lily’s, which made her feel a lot calmer and safer already.

“Damen? Would it be okay if you stayed with me for a couple of nights?”

“Of course. If that is what you want.”

Lily nodded her head. Damen walked to the door and Lily followed.

“I have to get a few things from my house. I won’t be gone long.”

“Wait! Please don’t leave.” Lily clung to his forearm, thinking about that phone call from last night.

“I will be right back. Nothing will harm you.”

He wrapped his arms around Lily’s waist and kissed her forehead lightly. “I promise.”

Damen left, and Lily shut and locked the door. She felt at ease with that little kiss. Lily closed her eyes and smiled. When she opened her eyes again, she noticed the little box sitting on the end table. Oh yeah. I forgot this was here. Lily took it into her hands. It was as big as her palm, and just a few inches tall.

It’s not very big. I wonder who would have sent this. There was a note taped to the box. Lily took it off and read it:   “A little something for you.”

Lily undid the red ribbon tied around the box. Just as she was opening the lid, the box exploded with a flash of light and smoke rolled out of it. Lily dropped the box and started to cough. Her vision blurred, her head spinning.

“Damen,” Lily managed to whisper before she collapsed to the ground.

Lily started to come to when she noticed it was dark. She tried to feel her head, but her hands were behind her back and bound. She started to panic.

“Well, don’t you look helpless. Just the way I want you.”

Lily still couldn’t see very well, but she could recognize the voice.
