Loan Some: The Intern by Libby Anderson

Lily Stone is an average young female with a need for something. That’s when she comes across an agency called Loan Some. There, she is paid to participate in various events and just be there for show. Maybe this is the change she secretly needs in her life. Or maybe not. At her time in the agency, she is faced with romance, drama, and fear. She wants some change in her life, but maybe this will be too much for her to handle. Never know unless you try, right? Previously… Lily was in the office for a meeting about her next client, Tod Carter. Lily thought he was a little young, but he revealed that he only wanted someone to take to the carnival and have fun with. Lily was happy to accept the job because she thought it would be a nice change of pace from the past jobs that were full of drama. The meeting came to an end and Tod walked Lily to the elevator. Just when the doors were about to close, Damen slipped inside. Lily wondered what he was up to. The voters chose that Damen was going to question Tod.

Episode 13

Lily was a little surprised that Damen was suddenly in the elevator. What is he doing? Damen stood in the middle of Lily and Tod. Lily could feel a slight tension between them and was getting irritated.

“Hi. My name is Damen Cross. I work here at the agency.” He shook Tod’s hand and smiled.

Tod returned the smile. “Tod Carter.”

“So why did you come to us?”

“Well, I want to go to a carnival, but I don’t want to go alone. So I came to Bill and he said he had the perfect person for me.” Tod looked at Lily, which made her blush slightly.

“Oh, Lily here? Yeah, she is pretty perfect. But just curious: why did you choose her? We have other people. Surely, you saw the options.”

Lily couldn’t believe he had just said that. She was about to say something when Tod spoke.

“Oh, don’t worry. I did look at the other people, but I like Lily. She has a normal quality to her that I like. I will feel comfortable walking around with her.” He smiled big. Just then the elevator dinged, and the doors opened. Tod stepped out and turned around.

“I’ll see you soon, Lily. Damen, have a good day. Nice to meet you.”

Tod walked away. Lily was about to walk out when Damen pulled her back in and made the doors shut again. He pushed a button and turned off the elevator. Now they were stuck in the small space together. Lily didn’t know what to think or feel.

“What are you doing? You can’t do that.”

“Do what?”

“Anything you are doing. What gives you the right to question Tod? You don’t even know the man, and you interrogate him? Plus, not letting me off the elevator. What is your problem?”

Damen turned to Lily and walked closer. Lily backed away but soon met a wall. She couldn’t go anywhere. Damen got very close to Lily.

“I don’t know him. That’s why I questioned him. He is basically taking you on a date. And I don’t like that. So I was seeing what his intentions were. And as for letting you off, well, I wanted some time with you.” He smiled like a sly fox, and it made Lily’s heart race.

Is he jealous? The thought of Damen actually liking her made Lily’s cheeks warm. She tried to look away from him, but he gently grabbed her chin and made her look at him. His eyes were somewhat soft but serious.

“Lily, I don’t want another man to take you out on a date.”

“It’s for the job,” Lily barely managed to say.

“I know. Which is why I am letting it go. This time.”

“This time?”

“Yeah. The next time you go on a date, I hope it is with me.”

Lily was shocked by his words. Then, she thought back to just a short time ago with Isabelle. How he was still hers and she won’t give up. Lily shook off Damen’s hand and clicked the button he pushed earlier. The elevator started working again, and the doors opened. Lily pushed past Damen and hurriedly walked to the exit, leaving Damen in the elevator.

When Lily got to her car, she shut the door and started to cry. Why am I crying? Why did he say those things to me, knowing he still has a woman who wants him? Does he really want me, or is he just playing games? Lily then sucked up her tears and drove home.

Later that night, Lily was cooking dinner when her doorbell rang. She walked to the door and looked to see who was there. Lily froze in fear. She didn’t want to open the door, but she was clearly home, and it would be rude not to answer. Against her best judgment, she opened the door. There stood Nicholas.

“Hello, Tara.”

“Nicholas.”
