Trying to find herself, she never felt so lost. Waking up in a strange place is a nightmare, especially when you’re being held against your will. Now Aubrey Elliott must find her way home. . . wherever that is.
Episode 1 – Rude Awakening
Looking in the mirror, Aubrey Elliott could barely recognize the person staring back at her. Typically put together and in control, the brunette gazing at Aubrey now was disheveled and decidedly not in control. Her eyes, normally clear and stunningly blue were mildly bloodshot and smeared with yesterday’s mascara. Where was she and how had she gotten herself into this position? Her memories of the night before were beginning to come back in bits and pieces, but she couldn’t shake the sense of foreboding that nagged at her. So far, Aubrey knew she was on a boat. The weakness in her knees and nausea told her that as the vessel bobbed up and down with the waves.
Minutes before, Aubrey had woken up alone and dazed, knowing for sure this was not the bed in her hotel room. Frantically, she threw back the covers and breathed a sigh of relief to find she was still fully dressed. Mistakes were made, but perhaps not the kind she feared. She wasn’t the “drunken one night stand” type, but then, she also wasn’t the “find herself in a strange room after a bender” type either. Aubrey was a “good girl.” Boring, she would argue. That’s why she went out the previous night in the first place.
She slowly made her way through the stateroom in search of a bathroom, accidentally opening the closet door on the first attempt. Inside were men’s clothes – expensive men’s clothes at that! Seeing the carefully pressed slacks and dress shirts, Aubrey remembered him, the devastatingly handsome man from the pub. It was in this moment she noticed the pounding in her head. She knew she had had one too many perhaps, but enough for the night to get away from her like this?
Now, looking at her reflection, Aubrey wondered aloud, “What have you done? Oh, you stupid girl, what have you done?” In that moment, she heard the din of people elsewhere on the vessel, yet she couldn’t tell how close they were to the stateroom. Suddenly she felt her cheeks redden at the thought of seeing the people to whom the voices belonged when she emerged in shame.
How was she going to get out of this one? She didn’t even know for sure what this was. Piecing together the scant memories of the night before as she walked out of the bathroom, she determined she had met a man who had access to a boat, which she now had to figure out how to leave with dignity – or without being seen.
Making her way to the window, Aubrey planned to make out some landmarks near the dock that would help her determine where she was exactly. As she looked left and right through the tempered glass, however, she was struck with horror. There were no other boats, no dock slips, and certainly no landmarks. She was at sea! Running to the stateroom door, her terror was compounded by the realization that her situation was far worse than she feared. The door was locked. WIN $50 Amazon gift certificates by voting WEEKLY!
