Episode 5

Previously Lily went to meet her boss to discuss her next assignment. While there, she was introduced to Damen, the guy from Zombie Con and also a senior coworker at Loan Some.

Lily turned her attention to the projection screen. A picture of a couple was shown.

“This is Mary and Jim. They have been a couple for ten years and now they are ready to tie the knot. They have come to us for some more guests at their wedding, so this is where I am sending you next. They have also asked that we send a couple, so you will need a date.”

As Mr. Bill flipped through the slideshow, Lily saw pictures of the happy couple and couldn’t help but smile. They are cute, and they look so happy. Maybe this will be an easy assignment. But who will my date be?

Mr. Bill continued. “I have already chosen your date for the job. You will go with Damen.”

Lily was in a moment of shock. She had to go to another job where Damen was going to be watching her. But even worse than that, he was going to be her fake boyfriend. She couldn’t stop her cheeks from turning red, as she tried not to look at Damen.

Damen smiled. “The wedding is in one week. Also, I will send a dress to your house so you will match my suit.”

“Why can’t I buy my own dress?”

“Because I already know what I am going to wear, and it will just be easier to buy you a dress instead of you going out and buying something. . .tacky. No offense.”

“Tacky? I’m not tacky.”

Mr. Bill cleared his throat, and Lily switched her attention to him. He slid Lily a folder and she opened it. There, she saw a paper that had the name “Tara Andrews” in big letters at the top. There was also a lot of writing all over the paper.

“Tara Andrews?”

“That is the name that the client has chosen for you. They have also chosen your background, so you won’t have to think of one. You just need to go over this a few times and remember everything about Tara Andrews. Now—” Mr. Bill stood up. “I have other business to attend to. Ms. Stone, Damen will walk you out. Have a nice day and keep up the good work.”

He smiled at Lily and bowed his head, then left the room. Damen got up and walked to the door. He opened it and gestured for Lily to walk through it.

They both walked in silence to the elevator and when they got to the top, Lily walked out and turned around to Damen. He was still standing in the elevator, just smiling and staring at Lily. She felt kind of shy all of the sudden.

“What are you smiling at? Or staring at for that matter?”

“You.”

“I know me. But why?”

He leaned forward and got real close to Lily’s face. “Because I like seeing you blush.”

Just then Lily felt like slapping him across the face, but didn’t. Instead she just said, “Well I have to go now, so bye.” She turned and started to walk away.

“I look forward to the wedding.”

Lily turned around only to see Damen smiling again. Right before the elevator doors closed, he gave Lily a wink. She shook her head, deciding to drop the thought of Damen and go home.

When she got home, she started thinking about the wedding and her assignment. But she couldn’t get Damen off her mind. He is so cocky. . . and I am not tacky. The meeting today was a lot to think about, so she thought it would be a good time to go over her persona. Vote below on what will happen next or if reading by email click view poll.
